Pairing a Sno-Way® ProControl 2
Before you start
- Connect the snowplow to the vehicle.
- Make sure the vehicle bumper connection is connected.
- Confirm the vehicle has 12V DC power.
- Make sure the 14-pin connector is connected between the receiver module and power unit.
- If your plow uses one, also connect the 4-pin connector.
- The receiver LED should be flashing red, indicating that it has power but is not communicating with the controller.
- Turn on the ProControl II controller.
- Put the controller into pairing mode.
- Press and hold the Down Pressure® (DP) button / pairing button.
- Hold it for at least 5 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Release the button.
- The controller’s backlights should begin flashing continuously. This indicates it is in pairing mode.
- Locate the two pairing pins on the receiver.
- The receiver module is mounted on the snowplow power unit.
- Locate the two pairing pins on the receiver.
- Bridge the two pairing pins.
- Use a metal object to momentarily connect the two pairing pins.
- Remove the metal object.
- The receiver LED should begin alternating between green and red. This means the receiver is now in pairing mode.
- Wait for the controller and receiver to pair.
- When pairing is successful:
- The DP/plow light on the controller flashes 3 times.
- The receiver LED flashes green 3 times and then returns to flashing red.
- When pairing is successful:
- Exit pairing mode.
- Press the DP/pairing button once on the controller.
- The controller’s backlights and DP/plow light should flash alternately 4 times.
- Confirm the connection.
- The DP/plow light should then flash 3 times.
- The controller’s signal light and receiver LED should change to flashing green.
- At this point, the ProControl II is paired and ready to operate the plow.
If it doesn’t pair
If the DP/plow light doesn’t flash three times, or the receiver doesn’t flash green three times before returning to red, the pairing attempt failed.
Start over at Step 1 and repeat the procedure. Sno-Way specifically recommends repeating the pairing process if those successful-pairing indications don’t occur.
Quick diagnostic:
- 🔴 Flashing red receiver LED: Receiver has power but isn’t communicating with the controller.
- 🟢 Flashing green receiver LED: Receiver has power and is communicating with the controller.
Important: Keep clear of the plow while pairing and testing it. Once the controller is communicating with the receiver, pressing a button can activate hydraulic functions and move the plow.
